Staying at a hotel for some can seem like a dream come true. It
can be the perfect place to relax and unwind. Unfortunately many hotel
rooms aren't properly cleaned and sanitized. It has been proven over and
over again. Price has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the hotel
room. I have seen in the news how hidden cameras were placed in many
well-known hotels rooms around the world and even live interviews were
given to some of the hotel staff. It has been proven how unsanitary some
hotels actually are. Some housekeeping staff were caught on film either
rinsing the drinking glasses (in preparation for a new guest) with
water only, or washing them with industrial cleaner labeled "Do Not
Drink." How dangerous is that? An uncleaned hotel room can definitely
affect your health. Doing your homework before booking a room is just
one great way to ensure a clean room. Read online reviews on a couple of
Hotels you are interested in. Make sure the reviews are recent. Ask
which type of bedding is used. Many hotels do not wash the bedding after
each unique guest. It actually cost a fortune to frequently wash
comforters or bedspreads. A good sign that your room may have clean
bedding is if the hotel use duvet covers as the bed covering. Duvet
covers can be placed over the bedding and removed to be washed. Duvet
covers fit in washer machines and can be washed with other sheets. This
saves the hotel plenty of money and ensures you a clean bed set.
Calling
in and making sure the room is safe is good but not great. There are a
few other steps that you can take to prevent catching unwanted germs and
bacteria. Hotel staff are expected to finish a room in 30 minutes or
less. No room can be properly cleaned in less than 30 minutes unless you
have super powers. Your best bet is to bring your own sheets and
antibacterial sanitizer. Wipe down anything you come in contact with.
This includes toilet seats, television remote controls, sinks, etc.
Pre-wash dishes and glasses in hot water for a couple of minutes to
effectively kill of any bacteria or germs. Remove hotel sheets and
inspect for bed bugs. If there is no sign of bed bugs than place sheets
you have brought with you. If you are not comfortable sleeping in
sheets, than I would recommend bringing a duvet cover and covering the
comforter that the room provided. Be safe and wear shoes or bring some
flip-flops. Last but definitely not least, wash you hands frequently.
Clean hands is a great way to prevent anyone from catching any germs or
bacteria we may come in contact with.
